  • Playa del Carmen
  • Tulum
  • Cozumel

Money

  • Taxes : the taxes in Mexico (IVA) are automatically included in the price of product and services.
  • Tips : it is customary to tip in Mexico (tip = propina in spanish) specially waiters, grocery baggers, maids etc … At the restaurant the usual tip is between 10 % and 15% of the total bill. Usually it is not included in the bill , but sometimes it is, so check your bill !!
  • Change : you can change canadians or US dollars, euros and other currency very easily . There are many money exchange or bank where you can change your money at.
   Special Tips From Alux
– Usually the best change rate you can find in Playa del Carmen Center is at Banco Azteca, located in Juarez Street with 30th avenue inside Elektra store. You can only change a Max of 300 US$ / day though. Passport required. – Supermarket like MEGA ( Constituyentes Avenue with 30th avenue) , Walmart ( 30th avenue with 8th street) or Soryana accept dollars at a best change than the bank. But they have sometimes an amount condition and/or sometimes do not accept 100 us$ bills.
